Gawuna Accepts NDC Senate Ticket, Gwarzo Set for Governorship

Gawuna has accepted the NDC senate ticket, which facilitates Gwarzo's emergence as the party's governorship candidate for Kano State. This development follows internal consultations within the Kwankwasiyya Movement, led by former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who favors Gwarzo for the governorship ticket.

Gawuna's acceptance of the senate ticket is expected to be formally announced soon, allowing Gwarzo to become the party's flagbearer. The NDC is rapidly becoming a major opposition force in Kano, especially after Kwankwaso's recent defection from the PDP.

Gwarzo, who resigned from his position in the Kano State House of Assembly amid impeachment proceedings for alleged financial misconduct, denies any wrongdoing. The political landscape is shifting as Gwarzo prepares to face former principal governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in the upcoming elections, with both candidates having secured the governorship ticket from the NNPP.
