NDC to Contest 2027 Elections Independently, Says Dickson

Seriake Dickson, the national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and former governor of Bayelsa State, stated that the NDC will contest the 2027 presidential election under its own platform, rejecting merger proposals from opposition groups. In an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’, Dickson acknowledged the efforts of the G-100 opposition coalition but insisted that collaboration should not require the NDC to abandon its identity.

He expressed confidence in the NDC's presidential ticket, describing it as vibrant and appealing to Nigerians domestically and abroad. Dickson reiterated the party's commitment to winning the election as the NDC, while also being open to support from other parties.

He cited a recent interaction between the NDC’s presidential candidate and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) as an example of the party's willingness to engage with other political forces, emphasizing that the NDC supports the general objective of encouraging opposition cooperation.
