NDDC Moot Court Competition Engages 16 Law Faculties

The 2026 Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Annual Moot Court and Mock Trial Competition is taking place in Port Harcourt, featuring sixteen law faculties from universities across the Niger Delta. Chiedu Ebie, Chairman of the NDDC 7th Governing Board, opened the competition, highlighting its role in enhancing the confidence and advocacy skills of young legal minds.

Ebie stated that moot court competitions allow law students to develop courtroom presentation skills and gain practical experience. Dr Samuel Ogbuku, NDDC Managing Director, noted that this is the third consecutive year the competition has been held under his leadership, emphasizing its significance in educational and human-capacity development.

He urged stakeholders to adapt legal education curricula to address emerging global issues. Olumide Akpata, President of the Nigerian Bar Association, praised the NDDC's initiative and called for a revival of the Memorandum of Understanding between the NDDC and the NBA to strengthen collaboration.
