Court Bars Niger Delta Chambers from September Summit

The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an order preventing the Niger Delta Chambers of Commerce from organizing its Niger Delta Economic and Investment Summit, scheduled for September, pending the resolution of a lawsuit. Justice Egwuatu delivered the ruling, which mandates all parties to maintain the status quo in a trademark and passing-off dispute currently before the court.

This decision follows the discovery of a pre-existing suit and active injunction related to the same matter in Port Harcourt. Justice Egwuatu emphasized the importance of judicial comity and compliance, instructing parties to respect the court's authority and resolve grievances through legal channels.

Mr. Kenule Nwiya Jnr., CEO of Ken-Eva Consult Ltd., described the ruling as a victory for the rule of law, urging all scheduled partners, including Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara, to be aware of the unresolved legal issues. He called for compliance with the court's directive and noted that the ruling sends a clear message to all involved.
