NDDC Calls for Community Vigilance Against Vandalism

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has called on host communities in Ondo State to actively safeguard development projects against vandalism. During a stakeholder engagement held in Okitipupa on Wednesday, Mr.

Ifedayo Abegund, the Executive Director of Corporate Services at NDDC, emphasized the detrimental effects of vandalism and theft on public assets, which hinder development efforts in the region. He noted that there have been numerous instances of vandalism occurring in broad daylight, with community members witnessing the destruction without intervening.

Abegund urged residents to take ownership of NDDC projects and report any vandalism. The meeting also featured insights from Dr.

Ajibola Shekoni and Mr. Eniola Akinsola, who discussed the sociological factors contributing to project vulnerability.

Mr. Franci Abayomi further encouraged stakeholders to reject destructive behaviors and actively participate in the protection of government projects to enhance service delivery and sustainable development in the Niger Delta.
