NDDC Urges Abia Youths to Protect Development Projects

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has issued a warning to youths in Abia State against the vandalism of development projects. Dr.

Anderson Ukeh, the director of the NDDC's Abia State office, stressed the importance of community engagement and ownership in protecting these projects. He noted that there are currently 19,421 projects scattered across member states, and emphasized the need for a shift in mindset among community stakeholders to view these projects as belonging to the community rather than as political tools.

Ukeh highlighted various challenges threatening NDDC projects, including national disasters, sabotage, poor usage, neglect, lack of maintenance, insecurity, and socio-political conflicts. He urged the youth to engage with the NDDC to understand their role in safeguarding these initiatives, advocating for a cultural shift towards protecting community projects rather than politicizing them.
