Niger Delta Coalition Demands Probe of El-Rufai's Allegations

The Niger Delta Coalition has called for an immediate investigation into former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai regarding allegations of phone tapping involving the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. In a statement issued on Sunday, the coalition expressed deep concern over El-Rufai's comments during a national television interview, where he suggested that individuals were tapping Ribadu's phone to listen to private conversations.

The coalition described this as a serious breach of national security and a direct assault on Nigeria's security architecture, arguing that such interception constitutes a serious criminal offense under Nigerian law. They urged President Bola Tinubu to order a comprehensive probe by security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), and emphasized that no political considerations should override the sanctity of Nigeria's intelligence institutions.

The coalition warned that failure to investigate could set a dangerous precedent and called for transparency in the investigation process to reassure citizens about the integrity of the nation's security framework.
