NDLEA Arrests 46 Suspects and Secures Convictions in Edo State Drug Trafficking Crackdown

The NDLEA's Edo State Command arrested 46 suspects for drug trafficking and obtained seven convictions within a specific period. Among the notable seizures were 66 bags of cannabis weighing 792kg concealed inside bags of charcoal.

One of the suspects, Shaibu Yusuf, was apprehended while attempting to transport illicit drugs along the Auchi-Abuja Expressway. The agency, with the support of the Nigerian Army 4 Brigade in Benin City led by Brigadier General O.

Balogun, transferred two suspects, Chief James Abamu and Aboi Egah, along with 681kg of cannabis and 181kg of cannabis seeds for legal prosecution. Additionally, NDLEA operatives, in a joint operation with military personnel, destroyed a cannabis farm in the Ilushi Forest covering 1.63 hectares, yielding an estimated 4,063.87kg of cannabis.

The agency also impounded a vehicle used for drug trafficking. The NDLEA emphasized its commitment to combating drug trafficking and ensuring a drug-free Edo State.
