NDLEA Seizes 6.5 Tonnes of Drugs Worth N1.2 Billion

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) reported the seizure of 6,526.203 kilograms of illicit drugs in Abuja, worth N1.2 billion, during the period from January to early March 2026. Julius Dzer, the agency's commander, disclosed this information during a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday.

The seized substances included cannabis sativa, cocaine, methamphetamine, tramadol, diazepam, rohypnol, and ecstasy. Within the same timeframe, the NDLEA prosecuted 56 drug offenders, resulting in 38 convictions in the Federal High Court.

Additionally, six drug-dependent individuals were counseled and rehabilitated. NDLEA officials urged residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to support the agency's efforts in combating drug trafficking and abuse.

The NDLEA chairman, Buba Marwa, and the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, were acknowledged for their support in these initiatives.
