NDLEA Arrests 49 Suspects, Promotes 73 Personnel in Edo

In July, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested 49 suspects in Edo State, with 29 being females and 20 males, as reported by the Edo State Commander, Mitchell Ofoyeju. During this period, the agency seized a total of 2,596.29 kilograms of illicit drugs, highlighting a concerning trend in the profile of drug traffickers.

The seizures included 2,588.4 kg of cannabis, 6.13 kg of psychotropic substances, 0.071 kg of cocaine, 0.005 kg of heroin, and 1.68 kg of methamphetamine. The NDLEA also intercepted two vehicles used for transporting cannabis and destroyed a cannabis farm in the Egbisi Forest, measuring 0.640903 hectares.

The command secured convictions in four notable drug cases during the month. Additionally, 73 personnel were promoted, with Ofoyeju emphasizing that promotions are earned through hard work and commitment to service.
