NDLEA Arrests Couple, Discovers Drug Warehouse in Edo

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested Christian Chukwuka, 32, and his wife Nwanneka Christian, 33, in Edo State after uncovering a drug warehouse along Sapele Road in Benin City. The operation, led by the Edo State Command of the NDLEA, resulted in the recovery of 412 kilograms of illicit drugs, including 22 bags of skunk cannabis weighing 219.5 kilograms and compressed blocks of Canadian loud weighing 192.67 kilograms.

Mitchel Ofoyeju, a spokesperson for the NDLEA, disclosed that the suspects, who are natives of Ndokwa in Delta State, allegedly operated the warehouse for storage and distribution of narcotic substances. The operation reflects the agency's determination to dismantle drug trafficking networks within the state.

Christian Chukwuka attributed his involvement in drug trafficking to unemployment and financial hardship, stating that the burden of caring for his family overwhelmed him. The NDLEA is currently investigating the case, and the suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion of the investigation.
