NDLEA Arrests 74-Year-Old Man with Cocaine at Abuja Airport

On March 9, 2023, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested a 74-year-old man, Ikwuakalom Nwakoro, at Abuja Airport, where he was found with 11 kilograms of cocaine concealed in food items, including ground dry pepper, wrapped in foil paper and balloons. The agency's operations also led to the arrest of Maryam Olalowo, who attempted to sell 89 grams of cocaine at a hotel in Victoria Island.

Additionally, two suspects, Kalil Simpara and Saidu Ibrahim, were apprehended with 68,000 tramadol pills. The NDLEA's operations extended to Edo State, where Chinedo Odalonu was arrested, and 4,218.96 kg of skunk was destroyed.

The agency intercepted 339,800 bottles of codeine syrup at Apapa Seaport during a joint examination with customs. Brig Gen Mohammed Buba Marwa, the NDLEA chairman, commended the agency's efforts in drug supply reduction.
