NDLEA Arrests Businessman with 6.1kg Cocaine in Lagos

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested 41-year-old Abugu Oliv Ikechukwu, a businessman based in Brazil, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, on June 11. He was apprehended upon his arrival from São Paulo, Brazil, via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, aboard Ethiopian Airlines.

A thorough search of his luggage revealed 14 towels and shirts soaked in liquid cocaine, totaling 6.1 kilograms. According to a statement released by NDLEA's Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, Ikechukwu allegedly imported the items impregnated with the illicit substance.

He reportedly claimed to have lived in Brazil for 14 years, where he runs an African restaurant, and was returning to Nigeria to buy foodstuff in bulk for his restaurant.
