NDLEA Arrests Businessman with Cocaine at Lagos Airport

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested 48-year-old businessman Nwankwo Onyebuchi at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while he attempted to board a Qatar Airways flight to New Delhi, India. Onyebuchi was found with 1.550kg of cocaine concealed within the walls and railings of his luggage.

According to NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, Onyebuchi confessed to selling his marble business and other assets to raise N23 million for the cocaine, which he anticipated selling in India for up to N100 million. He is currently in custody awaiting prosecution.

The NDLEA also reported other operations, including the discovery of a large stockpile of codeine-based syrup and the arrest of various suspects across multiple states, but these details are unrelated to Onyebuchi's case.
