NDLEA Arrests Ivorian for Ingesting Cocaine at Kano Airport

On February 1, 2026, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested Michael Gohouri, also known as Anunwa Michael, at Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano for ingesting 82 wraps of cocaine. The 41-year-old Ivorian was intercepted in the departure hall while preparing to board Ethiopian Airlines flight ET940 to Milan via Addis Ababa.

A body scan confirmed the presence of the illicit substance. Investigations revealed that Gohouri holds a Nigerian national identification number and has been a resident of Italy since 2013, with his residency valid until May 25, 2026.

His mother is from Enugu State, Nigeria, while his father is from Côte d'Ivoire. This arrest is part of ongoing operations by the NDLEA targeting illicit drug trafficking at Nigeria's airports and land borders.
