NDLEA Busts Drug Smuggling Ring in Kano Airport

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made significant strides in combating drug trafficking in Nigeria. They arrested Rabi Muhammad, a 35-year-old businesswoman, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport while attempting to smuggle 3,200 tramadol capsules concealed in a fake pregnancy.

The agency's spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, reported that the operation led to the discovery of a broader drug trafficking network. In a separate incident, 41-year-old Ivorian national Michael Gohouri was apprehended during outward clearance for an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Milan.

A body scan confirmed he had ingested illicit substances, leading to the excretion of 82 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.49 kilograms. Investigations revealed Gohouri had previously traveled to Milan and was promised €5,000 for successful delivery of the drugs.

The NDLEA also arrested Kolapo Oladapo Raji, CEO of Tran Fortress Global Resources, who is on the agency's watchlist for drug-related activities.
