NDLEA Arrests Businessman with N23m Cocaine in Lagos

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested 48-year-old businessman Nwankwo Onyebuchi at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while he was attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight to New Delhi, India. Onyebuchi was found with 1.550kg of cocaine concealed in the walls and railings of his luggage.

According to NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, Onyebuchi confessed to selling his marble business and other assets to raise N23 million for the cocaine, which he expected to sell in India for up to N100 million. He remains in custody awaiting prosecution.

The NDLEA also reported other drug-related operations, including a raid that uncovered a large stockpile of codeine syrup and the arrest of a kingpin with a significant amount of synthetic cannabis, but these details are not the primary focus of this report.
