NDLEA Backs Regulated Export of Cannabis Oil, Rejects Local Use in Nigeria

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) expressed support for the controlled export of cannabis oil but rejected its local use within Nigeria due to potential health and social risks. NDLEA Chairman, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa, highlighted the medicinal benefits of cannabis oil but cautioned against domestic consumption, citing links to mental health disorders and addiction.

Marwa emphasized the need for strict regulation of cannabis oil exports to designated zones. The NDLEA raised concerns about rising drug abuse rates in Nigeria, with an estimated million Nigerians using cannabis.

The agency aims to maintain stringent control measures to combat drug abuse and protect public health.
