NDLEA Seizes N16.9bn Drugs in Lagos Warehouse Raid

On April 17, 2026, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) executed a significant operation in Lagos, targeting three illegal drug warehouses located in the Okota area. The operation, based on coordinated intelligence, led to the discovery of substantial quantities of drugs valued at N16.9 billion.

Specifically, the NDLEA recovered 2,360,000 pills of high-strength tramadol (225mg) and 1,909,400 bottles of codeine syrup. The warehouses were situated at 98 Olukayode Awofisayo Street and 5 Charl Ndumetu Street.

NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Buba Marwa stated that this operation dealt a heavy blow to the illegal drug market and disrupted a major trafficking network. He emphasized the agency's commitment to combating substance abuse and drug trafficking, warning that those involved in the illicit drug trade would face strict actions and that there would be no safe place for traffickers in the country.
