NDLEA Dismantles Cannabis Farms, Arrests Traffickers in Edo

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Edo State Command, destroyed five cannabis farms covering 2.269668 hectares and arrested three suspected drug traffickers in separate operations across the state. The operations took place over the past two weeks and aimed to combat illicit drug cultivation and trafficking.

Mitchell Ofoyeju, the commander of Narcotics, reported the interception of large quantities of psychotropic substances, including 590 bottles of codeine syrup, 50,000 capsules of Tramadol 100mg, 100 tablets of Tramadol 225mg, and 25,000 tablets of Diazepam. Ofoyeju expressed concern over the increasing cannabis plantations in the state, urging local government chairmen to collaborate with the NDLEA.

The farms were located in Ovia South West, Owan East, and Owan West LGAs, with a total estimated yield of 5,674.17kg destroyed. Notably, a 39-year-old suspect, Sunday Segun, was arrested at Ogboha Forest, while another suspect, Jamie Zubaru, was apprehended in Auchi with assorted illicit drugs.
