NDLEA Arrests Five, Dismantles Cannabis Farm in Edo

On August 18, 2026, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Edo State Command conducted operations in which they arrested three male suspects—Imohimi Ugbeje (50), Usihoro Saturday (27), and Bala Sunday (23)—and destroyed a cannabis sativa plantation in the Ukaro Forest, Owan West Local Government Area. The plantation covered approximately 0.496 hectares and had an estimated yield of 1,240.9 kilograms.

During the operation, NDLEA seized a sample of cannabis plant stems and half a bag of processed cannabis weighing 5.5 kilograms. The following day, on August 19, 2026, NDLEA operatives targeted an illicit drug warehouse in Ihumudumu, Ekpoma, Esan West LGA, recovering 319 bottles of codeine cough syrup, 1,340 capsules of tramadol, 344 tablets of Rohypnol, and 222 tablets of Danabol, although no arrests were made.

Additionally, in Benin City, two suspects, Zege Japhet (29) and Ifeanyi Ogashe (43), were apprehended with a total of 290 grams of 'Canadian Loud,' a synthetic cannabis strain. NDLEA's actions reflect its commitment to combating drug trafficking and protecting the community.
