NDLEA, Army Seize 604.5kg Cannabis in Edo State Raid

On August 5, 2026, the Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), in collaboration with personnel from the Nigerian Army, conducted a raid at a notorious drug hub in Ewe Luleha, Owan West Local Government Area, recovering 65 bags of skunk cannabis weighing 604.5kg. NDLEA commander Mitchell Ofoyeju announced that a manhunt has been initiated for the suspected drug kingpin, identified as Sunday, who is currently in hiding.

Ofoyeju stated, “He has nowhere to hide because we will certainly apprehend him.” In a separate operation, nine suspected drug peddlers were arrested across various hotspots in Edo State, including Musa Muhammed, 58, who was found with 280 grams of Cannabis sativa, and others with assorted illicit substances. Ofoyeju emphasized the importance of community involvement in reporting drug-related activities and assured the public of ongoing investigations and prosecutions.
