Drug Lord's Cocaine Export Attempt Foiled by NDLEA

Michael Oladimeji Olashupo, a convict drug kingpin currently serving a five-year jail term at Ikoyi Correctional Centre, attempted to export 1.10 kilograms of cocaine concealed in cassava granules, popularly known as garri, to London via a Virgin Atlantic flight. His arrest occurred in 2025, coordinated by NDLEA operatives at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

The agency revealed that Oladimeji coordinated the export logistics with a company staff member present during the cargo's arrest. Additionally, NDLEA operatives in Abuja discovered 59.2 grams of a potent cannabis strain, known as Canadian Loud, concealed inside children's toy guitars, leading to the arrest of the consign owner.

A raid on a duplex in Ikat Elegushi, Lekki, Lagos, uncovered a factory producing a synthetic cannabis variant, resulting in the seizure of 13.2 kilograms of the substance along with precursor chemicals. Further nationwide raids led to the seizure of 105,000 tramadol pills in Kwara and 563.5 kilograms of skunk in Edo State, with several suspects arrested in Oyo State for methamphetamine and cannabis-related offenses.
