NDLEA Intercepts Cocaine Concealed in Fish Shipment

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted a significant cocaine shipment concealed in dry stock fish, locally known as 'okporoko', at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on March 19, 2026. The operation, led by spokesman Femi Babafemi, resulted in the arrest of 36-year-old Akputa Dickson Ejik, who was found in possession of 237 wraps of cocaine weighing 5.80 kilograms, intended for export to Delhi, India.

Following this, on March 25, 2026, the NDLEA intercepted two consignments containing methamphetamine and morphine from a courier company linked to Cotonou, Benin Republic. On March 26, 2026, a raid in Yaba led to the arrest of 46-year-old Omolad Abigail Jolayemi, a notorious drug syndicate leader, and the recovery of 135 blocks of cannabis.

Additional operations across various states resulted in the seizure of over 894 kilograms of psychoactive substances and multiple arrests, highlighting the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Nigeria.
