NDLEA Seizes Cocaine in Food Flasks at Lagos Airport

On April 9, 2026, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted 2.80 kilograms of cocaine hidden in food flasks at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. The agency's spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, reported that the operation led to the arrest of two cargo agents, Ama Obinna Ufeim, aged 33, and Ogabi Mondai, aged 39, along with a 52-year-old freight forwarder, Agoro Moninuola, who was allegedly the sender of the cocaine.

The seizure occurred at the airport's export shed. In a separate operation on April 8, the NDLEA also intercepted 2.90 kilograms of cannabis concealed in snack packs, resulting in the arrest of a 29-year-old fashion designer, Sahe Adeshina Adegok.

Additional operations across the country included the interception of 847 kilograms of skunk in Kaduna and the destruction of cannabis farms in Cross River and Edo states, leading to multiple arrests and significant drug recoveries. NDLEA Chairman, Moham Buba Marwa, commended the ongoing efforts in drug interdiction.
