NDLEA Seizes Illicit Drugs Hidden in Water Purifiers

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) uncovered a shipment of illicit drugs concealed within water purifier machines from the Netherlands, seizing three kilograms of ketamine and 199 grams of MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, on May 26 in Lagos. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in Nigeria.

Following the seizure, NDLEA operatives arrested a couple, Musa Sundai and Merci Sundai, along with suspect Salomi Ezekiel, on May 24 in Kaduna, where they recovered 100 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 1,246 kilograms. Additionally, a 30-year-old suspect, Sunusi Musa, was intercepted while allegedly transporting 380 rounds of military-grade 7.62mm ammunition in Katsina State.

On May 27, NDLEA operatives raided a warehouse in Gidan Kukah, Bosso Local Government Area, recovering 457 kilograms of skunk and arresting Godwin Zakka, 46. The agency is determined to dismantle drug trafficking networks and prevent the circulation of illicit substances across the country.
