NDLEA Intercepts Drugs at Lagos Airport, Arrests Two

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted drugs hidden in winter jackets and body cream at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on March 20, 2026. Fridai Ehianuka, a 37-year-old resident of Milan, was arrested while attempting to board an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Rome, carrying 2,698 tramadol pills concealed in body cream.

Another suspect, Christian Agbonhes, aged 38, was apprehended on the same day with a total of 28,470 pills, including 23,150 tramadol pills, 4,000 tapentadol tablets, and 1,320 tramadol pills, hidden in two large winter jackets. The NDLEA's spokesman, Femi Babafemi, confirmed the arrests and noted that the agency is intensifying its operations against drug trafficking.

Other operations led to the seizure of cannabis and methamphetamine, with multiple arrests across various states, including Kano, Edo, Kaduna, and Taraba.
