NDLEA Seizes N3.4bn Drugs, Arrests Fake Police Officer

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted over 1.3 million pills of tramadol and approximately 6,000kg of cannabis, with a total street value exceeding N3.4bn, during operations across various states and the Federal Capital Territory. A significant seizure occurred at the Tin-Can Island Port in Lagos, where 1,200 parcels of Canadian Loud cannabis, weighing 603.75kg and valued at N1.81bn, were discovered.

This shipment arrived from Montreal, Canada, on September 12 and was monitored following intelligence received by the NDLEA. The agency conducted a joint examination with the Nigeria Customs Service on September 16.

In Delta State, 49-year-old Innocent Ekpe was arrested for impersonating a police officer while transporting 292.48kg of skunk. He used a forged ID card to evade checkpoints.

In Edo State, 45-year-old Matthew Ossai was arrested with 48kg of Canadian Loud and methamphetamine at an auto-repair workshop. Additionally, three suspects were apprehended in Niger State with firearms and drugs concealed in a travel bag.
