NDLEA Rearrests 83-Year-Old Uloma Uchechi for Drugs

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has rearrested 83-year-old Uloma Uchechi Sunday for drug possession, specifically methamphetamine and Colorado, on October 7 at her home in Ite-Uzo, Umuaguma, Obingwa Local Government Area, Abia State. The drugs were reportedly tied around her waist with a wrapper.
This arrest follows her initial arrest on May 17, 2025, alongside her 32-year-old daughter, Chisom Uchechi, where they were found with 50 grammes of methamphetamine, 522 grammes of skunk, 260 grammes of fresh cannabis leaves, and 12 grammes of tramadol. Both pleaded guilty and were sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment or a fine of N200,000 each, which they paid.
Despite her release, the NDLEA claims Uloma returned to the drug trade, establishing a drug joint that allegedly harbored criminal elements in the community. The NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, provided this information in a statement.
