Businessman Sentenced for Illegal Raphnol Export in Lagos

Justice Akintayo Aluko of the Federal High Court in Lagos convicted Megwalu Chukwudi Bob-Manuel, the Chief Executive Officer and Director of G Care Pharm Limited, to four years imprisonment for the unlawful exportation of 8.30 kilogrammes of Raphnol, a controlled psychotropic substance. The conviction followed Bob-Manuel's guilty plea to two counts related to the illegal procurement and exportation of the drugs.

The illegal acts occurred on July 24, 2026, at the NAHCO Export Shed, Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, where Bob-Manuel attempted to export the drugs to Nairobi, Kenya. The prosecutor, Arit N Okon, stated that Bob-Manuel had enlisted the help of individuals from Tina Travels Service Limited and Fair Express to facilitate the export.

The judge ordered the sentences to run concurrently, effective from the date of arrest, and imposed a fine of ₦1 million as an option to the jail term, considering Bob-Manuel's status as a first-time offender.
