NDPC to Train Officials on Data Protection Measures

The National Data Protection Commission (NDPC) is set to train permanent secretaries and heads of parastatals on data protection measures over a three-day technical organization drill in Abuja. Dr. Vincent Olatunji, the head of the NDPC, announced that this training is crucial for ensuring that public servants understand data protection responsibilities.

The initiative follows discussions with the head of the civil service of the federation, emphasizing the importance of a bottom-up approach to data protection. Dr. Olatunji noted the recent increase in cyberattacks, highlighting the need for robust technical measures to safeguard sensitive public data.

The training aims to build a strong data privacy architecture across ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), ensuring that personal data rights are protected and that agencies can effectively manage sensitive information during crises. Dr. Tolu Piu Fadip, head of the training committee, aims to foster a culture of responsible data management within government agencies.
