NDPC Partners with INEC for 2027 Elections Data Training

The National Data Protection Commission (NDPC), led by Dr. Vincent Olatunji, announced plans to partner with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address data breaches ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The NDPC aims to engage registered political parties by offering structured training on data protection processes. This initiative is part of a broader outreach strategy to deepen privacy awareness across Nigerian society.

Under Dr. Olatunji's leadership, the NDPC established the 2023 Data Protection Act, marking significant milestones such as the registration of 7,000 data protection officers and the issuance of fines for data privacy violations.

The commission also launched Nigeria's first-ever data privacy academy to build a competitive pool of data privacy professionals. Dr.

Olatunji emphasized the importance of raising awareness about data privacy and identified artificial intelligence and cross-border data transfer as critical areas for future regulatory focus.
