42 Students Abducted in Borno School Attack by Insurgents

On Friday, a school attack in Borno resulted in the abduction of 42 students, with reports indicating that members of Boko Haram and ISWAP were responsible. Senator Ali Ndume confirmed the incident, stating that 28 pupils from the primary section and 4 students from GDSS were among those taken, alongside 10 children abducted from various residences.

The attack, which occurred early in the morning, has left the community traumatized, with residents fearing that the insurgents may conscript the children. Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdullahi Askira, confirmed the attack but did not provide further details.

Ndume expressed condolences to the families affected and emphasized the need for Nigerian troops and the Joint Task Force in the Northeast to intensify their search and rescue operations. He noted that this incident is part of a troubling pattern of attacks in the region, particularly in Chibok, where similar incidents have occurred.
