NECO Marks 25 Years with Plans for Computer-Based Exams

The National Examinations Council (NECO) celebrated its 25th anniversary on Thursday in Abuja, where it announced plans to implement a Computer-Based Examination (CBE) system scheduled to commence later this year. This initiative, according to NECO's Chief Executive, Prof.

Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, aims to significantly curb examination malpractice by enabling real-time monitoring of candidates and tracking suspicious activities. The celebration, hosted by the Minister of Education, Dr.

Tunji Alausa, emphasized NECO's commitment to maintaining rigorous standards in public examinations and ensuring that certifications reflect genuine mastery. NECO's mandate includes conducting credible external examinations and aligning with national educational objectives.

The organization aims to widen access and address disparities, ensuring fair chances for learners from diverse backgrounds. The introduction of technology-driven processes for secure data management and electronic result release is expected to enhance public trust and restore confidence in the examination system.
