NECO Registers 58,187 Candidates for 2026 NCEE

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has registered 58,187 candidates for the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), a decline from the 64,578 candidates registered in 2025. Prof.

Ibrahim Wushishi, the Registrar of NECO, highlighted that female candidates outnumbered their male counterparts in this year's examination. The examination was monitored by the Federal Ministry of Education, with Prof.

Suwaiba Ahmad, the Minister of State for Education, expressing satisfaction with the organization and monitoring of the examination process. Reports from across the country indicated that the exercise was largely hitch-free.

Prof. Ahmad emphasized the necessity of school visits to facilitate the conduct of the examination and reaffirmed the Federal Government's commitment to improving infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning during the monitoring exercise.

The NECO management team also visited model secondary schools, including the Government Science Technical College in Garki and the Federal Government College in Garki.
