Education Minister Praises NECO's CBT Examination Success

Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, the Nigerian Minister of Education, monitored the ongoing Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the National Examination Council (NECO) at the Anglican Girl Grammar School in Abuja.

She described the CBT as a significant step towards eliminating examination malpractice, emphasizing that candidates preferred this format over traditional paper-based exams. Ahmad confirmed that there were no technical glitches during the examination, which commenced as scheduled.

NECO's registrar, Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi, assured that the examinations proceeded without any issues, and a total of 1,378,048 candidates registered, with female candidates slightly outnumbering their male counterparts.

The CBT system is expected to enhance the credibility of the examination process by randomizing questions, thereby reducing opportunities for malpractice. NECO anticipates releasing the examination results in the first week of September to support the 2026 admission process.
