Education Minister Monitors NECO CBT Examination in Abuja

On Wednesday, during a visit to the Anglican Girl Grammar School in Abuja, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, the Minister of State for Education, monitored the ongoing Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the National Examination Council (NECO).

She described the CBT as a major step toward eliminating examination malpractice and noted that candidates preferred the CBT format over traditional paper-based examinations. Ahmad confirmed that there were no technical glitches during the exams and highlighted that 1,378,048 candidates registered for this year's SSCE, with female candidates slightly outnumbering their male counterparts.

NECO's Registrar, Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi, assured that the examinations commenced without technical issues.

The council expects to release the examination results in the first week of September, supporting the 2026 admission process. Ahmad emphasized that the adoption of CBT would improve the quality of education and promote merit in examinations.
