NECO Releases 2026 BECE Results for Over 186,000 Candidates

The National Examinations Council (NECO) announced the release of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results, which saw participation from 186,291 candidates across 36 states and five foreign countries. The examination was conducted from April 20 to April 30, 2026.

Alhaji Azeez Sani, the Director of NECO, confirmed that the results were released following a successful meeting of the award committee held at NECO's headquarters in Minna, Niger State. The meeting was chaired by Dr.

Folak Olatunji David, the Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, who represented the Minister of Education, Dr. Mauruf Tunji Alausa.

The award committee approved the dates for the 2026 BECE re-sit examinations, which will take place on July 22 and 23, 2026, specifically for Mathematics and English. This re-sit aims to assist candidates in addressing deficiencies in these subjects, allowing them to obtain the necessary certification for admission into Senior Secondary School (SSS1) without repeating an entire academic year.
