Nigeria's Move Towards CBT Exams by 2026 to Curb Malpractice

The Nigerian government directed WAEC and NECO to fully adopt Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for exams by 2026, transitioning from paper exams. This move aims to combat examination malpractice and enhance the education sector.

The Ministry of Education specified the timeline for the transition, with a pilot CBT format already tested for private candidates. Education Minister Tunji Alausa praised NECO for the seamless pilot exercise and confirmed the future shift to CBT for Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCEs) to improve exam integrity and efficiency.
