NEDC to Launch 50MW Mini-Grid and N200bn E-Banking Project

Mohammed Goni, the Managing Director of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), announced in Abuja that the Commission has surpassed the N1.5 trillion mark in executed, ongoing, and upcoming projects. This announcement was made during the 2026 ISO Executive Retreat held from September 28 to 30, 2026.
Goni stated that the current value of delivered physical infrastructure, including roads and bridges, is approximately N800 billion, with additional projects expected to increase the total portfolio. He revealed that the e-banking project, set for commissioning in the coming weeks, will cost about N200 billion.
Additionally, the NEDC plans to deploy a 50 megawatt mini-grid, which Goni described as unprecedented at the sub-national level. He emphasized that the management training program aims to enhance leadership ownership and accountability within the Commission.
The NEDC has also recently secured certification in five management system standards, marking a significant milestone in its operational processes.
