NEDC Water Project Transforms Yobe Communities

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has implemented a water intervention project in Yobe State, specifically targeting the Buni Yadi environment within the Gujba Local Government Area. This initiative includes the installation of four solar-powered boreholes with a storage capacity of 300,000 liters, a 50 KVA grid connection, and an extensive 6-kilometer pipeline network.

The project, coordinated by Prof. Ali Ibrahim Abba, aims to address water scarcity exacerbated by conflict in the region.

Additionally, the NEDC has supplied submersible pumps and accessories to repair broken-down boreholes across the state. Ba Abba Habu, the General Manager of Yobe Water Corporation, described the project as a significant benefit to the town, pledging to sustain the initiative.

Local residents have expressed hope that this project will reduce the prevalence of waterborne diseases and lessen the burden on women and children who previously had to trek long distances for water.
