NEDC Provides Relief to Borno Blast Survivors

The Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) provided essential relief materials to survivors of recent terrorist attacks in Borno State, specifically targeting victims of multiple bomb blasts. The handover took place in Maiduguri on Tuesday, with Mohan Umar, the NEDC's Borno State Coordinator, presenting the items on behalf of the state government.

The relief package included food supplies such as 2,000 bags of 25kg rice, 2,000 cartons of spaghetti, 400 gallons of vegetable oil, and 100 bags of sugar, alongside non-food items like 1,000 mats, 2,000 blankets, and clothing for men, women, and children. The distribution was broken down by local government areas, with Gwoza receiving the largest share due to its severe impact from the attacks.

Additionally, cash support was announced, providing N50,000 to households of deceased victims and N30,000 for hospitalized victims. This intervention follows two devastating suicide bomb attacks on March 16 and March 4, which resulted in numerous casualties.
