NELFUND Applauds DELSU for Supporting Loan Beneficiaries

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) praised Delta State University (DELSU) for its decision to permit students who are beneficiaries of the NELFUND loan scheme to sit for examinations. This commendation was issued on March 6, 2026, following a directive from the university allowing students with verified loan statuses to participate in the first semester examinations of the 2025/2026 academic session.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academics, Professor Hilari Ijeoma, confirmed that students could present evidence of their loan status to sit for exams. Akintund Sawyerr, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, described this move as a positive example of collaboration between tertiary institutions and loan funds to support students.

Oseyemi Oluwatuyi Sawyerr, the Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, welcomed this student-centered approach, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that no Nigerian student is denied access to education due to financial constraints. NELFUND encourages other universities to adopt similar supportive measures.
