NEMA Assesses Flood Damage in Ebonyi State Communities

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) undertook an on-the-spot assessment of flood-affected communities in Ebonyi State, led by Air Commodore Bature Usman, the Director of Search and Rescue. The assessment targeted areas including Ohazura, Afikpo, and Ivo, where numerous houses and farmlands suffered damage due to flooding.
Accompanying Usman were Mr Abbani Imam Garki, the Director of Relief and Rehabilitation, and Mrs Priscilla Maduekwe, Head of NEMA’s Enugu Operations Office, along with officials from the Ebonyi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and Local Emergency Management Committees (LEMCs). The assessment was part of a special intervention team deployed by NEMA Director-General, Mrs Zubaida Umar, to enhance the agency's response and coordination with state authorities.
During the visit, relief materials approved by the Federal Government were delivered to the affected residents. Governor Francis Nwifuru expressed gratitude for NEMA's timely support and assured that the materials would be distributed transparently to ensure they reached those in need.
