Ebonyi Government Launches Flood Relief Efforts

The Ebonyi Government, through a statement by the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Ikeuwa Omebe, announced its intervention in the flood disaster affecting communities, particularly Akaeze. The government expressed deep concern and sympathy for the residents impacted by the flooding.

It reiterated that the welfare and security of the people are central to the administration of Governor Nwifuru, known as the People’s Charter of Needs. The government pledged to spare no effort in addressing the immediate humanitarian needs of those affected and to implement measures aimed at restoring livelihoods and enhancing community resilience against future climate-related emergencies.

Residents were urged to remain calm and cooperate with emergency-response officials conducting assessments and coordinating relief operations. Additionally, the government advised against returning to flood-prone areas or occupying structurally compromised buildings until deemed safe by the appropriate authorities.
