NEO Awards N110M to Boost Engineering Innovations in Nigeria

The Nigerian Engineering Olympiad (NEO) awarded N110 million in seed funding to four exceptional students to accelerate the commercialization of engineering innovations. The grand final took place in Lagos, where the overall winner received N50 million, while the second, third, and fourth places received N30 million, N20 million, and N10 million, respectively.

The winning team will also benefit from ongoing technical mentorship and business development support. Margaret Oguntola, immediate past president of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), described the initiative as a bold step towards harnessing young engineering talent for national development.

Olutosin Ogunmola, representing NSE, emphasized the importance of engineering in national development. Michael Ajayi, country director of Enactu Nigeria, noted that the competition aligns with the organization's mission to promote youth leadership and enterprise development.

Felix Omatsola Ogb from NCDMB confirmed the board's continued support for identifying and developing undergraduate and postgraduate engineering talent.
