Modibbo Adama University Wins N50m for Innovation

Modibbo Adama University was declared the winner of the Nigerian Engineering Olympiad (NEO) on Tuesday, receiving a cheque of N50 million for its rapid alert system project aimed at enhancing community security. The competition, which promotes engineering innovation in Nigeria, saw the university's team, Maverick, excel among various participants.

The University of Ibadan's team, Aurora, secured second place and received N30 million, while the University of Nigeria, Nsukka's team, Fortizo, came in third, earning N20 million. The event, themed "Inspiring Engineering Solutions," featured a grand final in Lagos, where participants showcased their innovative ideas.

Rabiu Ali Alimasuya, President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, urged industry leaders to invest in young engineers and support innovation. Margaret Aina Oguntala, the first female president of the NSE, emphasized the importance of creating platforms to identify and nurture engineering talent.

The competition is part of a broader initiative to transform student ideas into practical solutions for national development.
