NERC Sets September 2026 Energy Caps for AEDC Customers

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has established monthly energy caps for unmetered customers of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), effective September 2026. These caps are determined based on the actual power consumption of feeders in August and are published under Order NERC/307/2022.

The schedule includes over 30 business units across the Federal Capital Territory, such as Garki, Wuse, Maitama, Asokoro, Gwarimpa, Kubwa, and Gwagwalada, and extends into parts of Nasarawa State, including Akwanga, Keffi, and Lafia. The data indicates significant disparities in billing exposure, with a feeder in Asokoro capped at 1,889 kilowatt-hours (kWh) for the month, while others in Jabi, Jiwa, Mararaba, and Lafia were capped as low as 61 kWh.

Generally, feeders in affluent districts like Maitama, Asokoro, Wuse, and parts of Garki recorded higher caps, often exceeding 1,000 kWh, reflecting more stable supply and higher consumption patterns. In contrast, feeders in outlying areas such as Abaji, Bwari, Kuje, and Nasarawa satellite towns mostly fell within Band C and D classifications, with caps rarely exceeding 200 kWh.
