New Awujale: Abiodun Tasks Kingmakers on Level Playing Ground for Contestants

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has called on the kingmakers of Ijebuland to ensure a level playing ground in the selection process for the new Awujale. The revered stool became vacant following the death of Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona on July 13, 2025, after a 65-year reign at the age of 91.

Governor Abiodun emphasized the importance of filling the vacuum without delay, stating that the process of installing a new Awujale must follow the provisions of the law in Ijebuland. He assured that his administration would support whoever emerges at the end of the nomination process.

The Deputy Chairman of the Council, Chief Oluwaranti Lekan Osifeso, also reaffirmed the Council's commitment to peace and unity in Ijebuland, expressing confidence in working together for the progress of the kingdom.
