New Awujale: Abiodun Tasks Kingmakers to Ensure Level Playing Field for Contestants

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has urged the kingmakers of Ijebuland to ensure a fair and transparent process in selecting the next Awujale. The position became vacant after the passing of Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona in July 2025.

Governor Abiodun emphasized the importance of filling the position promptly to avoid a leadership vacuum. He assured that his administration would support the candidate chosen by the kingmakers.

The governor also discussed the regency pathway and the need to follow the laws of Ijebuland during the selection process. He expressed hope that the process would be fair and that all contenders would be given an equal opportunity.

The Deputy Chairman of the Awujale council, Chief Oluwaranti Lekan Osifeso, reiterated the council's commitment to unity and progress in Ijebuland.
